Casual Little Black Dress

Project Sewn is underway, and I am going to try and sew along where I can, cause it’s just too much fun! This week’s theme is Little Black Dress (LBD) and there are some amazing entries in both the designer portion and the sew-alongers! Since I never ever ever do anything fancy that would require a fancy dress (sad, I know…talk to my husband ;-)), I was going to sit this one out. I’m totally a jeans/leggings/sweatpants and t-shirt/hoodie sweatshirt kinda girl. But since I wanted to participate SO SO BAD, I made a casual black sweatshirt dress with a cowl neck that can be put up into a hood if my little ears got cold. The dress is a self-drafted raglan sleeve dress with a big long tube cowl neck…it was very simple to make, and very practical for me!

This dress is totally perfect for doing this…

And this…

  1. That’s fantastic! I have some striped sweater knit that I was hoping to make into something similar perhaps for signature style week. Great job!

  2. Love your interpretation of the LBD. Why not go comfy? I didn’t sew along as I would almost never wear a “real” LBD. But a dress like your’s would have fit my style really well…

  3. Shelly I like this a lot. Google gaiaconceptions…..this lady works in knits too and has a similar aesthetic that i like.

    1. Thank you Thank you Thank you! You do such a great job of running these contests and your blog is such an inspiration! Thanks for that as well 🙂
