I am so excited to share my Women’s Trailblazer Vest by Twig + Tale. This pattern is awesome…it has such amazing details…princess seams in back and front with inseam pockets at the front princess seams, a back yoke, a collar, an optional shoulder detail, an optional dipped back, and an optional windflap to cover the zipper (I made mine without the windflap).
I used all Michael Miller Fabric, including lining it with super soft Michael Miller Sherpa, plus a scrap of thrifted leather for the shoulder detail.
This sherpa makes the inside of the vest feel so nice and it was really easy to work with…it makes the perfect lining for this vest!
This pattern is so thorough, it even includes help with fitting adjustments so you can get a perfect fit. I made 2 muslins and a few fitting adjustment and am so pleased with the fit! Based on measurements, I made a size g but graded to a size h for hips…the pattern very clearly explains how to do that. I also lowered the bust point a bit based on the muslin and I took in the back armscye at the yoke. I had never fitted a princess seamed woven garment, but it was super easy to get a perfect fit!
I also quilted the vest to a thin batting , which I was a bit intimidated by, but the pattern instructions walked me through it and I love the result!
