Aviator Hat

I just finished making the newly-released Aviator Hat by Twig + Tale and I’m just so pleased with this little hat!  Seriously, hats are one of my favorite things to sew…especially the Twig+Tale hat patterns…I have made a Wild Things Hooded Scarf and a Pixie Hat for Lucy and 2 Evergreen Bonnets for Noah and they have all 4 seen so much wear!

So I knew I would love the Aviator Hat as well!   The pattern includes sizes preemie to XL adult and includes lots of options, including short or long ear flaps (I used the short here), optional ties, and optional ear warmer flaps!

For my outer fabric I used the adorable Lucky Stars Flannel from the Michael Miller Magic Collection by Sarah Jane.  For the lining I used the amazing and cozy Organic Sherpa from Michael Miller

I quilted the flannel to a thin batting to make the hat even warmer!   I’m kinda regretting not adding the ties because it would have helped keep it in place on his active little head!

I added the small bear ears from the Evergreen Bonnet Pattern to this one…the Twig + Tale patterns are all so compatible.

  1. Looking good. Now if you can just get them to wear the hat, that’ll be a major accomplishment. Love those kids.
