Naples Dress Blog Tour

It’s definitely no secret that Jennuine Design is one of my favorite pattern designers…her attention to detail in her patterns is amazing and her patterns are the ones I keep going back to because I can trust the fit and the designs are unique but still very practical and wearable!  The latest Jennuine Design pattern, the Naples Dress and Tunic, is no different…in fact, this is my fourth one (I still need to blog about one, but I previously blogged my sleeveless dress version and my gathered butterfly sleeve tunic version) and they all look so different!

Art Gallery Fabrics is so generously sponsoring this tour and provided us with their gorgeous fabric to use!  Thank you Art Gallery Fabrics!  I have never used such nice fabric before…it is really soft and crisp and easy to sew with!  The fabric I used for the top is made from the new Essentials II line by Pat Bravo Designs and the shorts are made from the new Art Gallery Denim line.

The Naples Dress and Top pattern features a unique empire-waist cross-front curved bodice with tons of options, including 4 sleeve options (butterfly sleeves, short & long bell sleeves, and sleeveless), 2 skirt choices (gathered or a-line), and 2 length options (dress or tunic).  It also comes in a large size range (nb-12 years).

For this tour I chose to make the A-line skirt tunic version with the short bell sleeves.  The only changes I made were to color-block the skirt and the sleeve pieces and I also used facings to hem the skirt and sleeves.  I also made a pair of shorts using just the bottom and waist band portion of the Jennuine Design Satya Romper Pattern.  I love the unique pockets on these!

I have a small confession to make about this outfit…I accidentally cut the front skirt piece upside-down!  yikes!  The darkest flowers are upside-down!  I didn’t notice until I had it all together and I would have fixed it, but I didn’t have enough fabric left-over!  It’s not super noticeable, but i felt like I should come clean!!

I also sewed up the Doll Naples Dress Pattern in the tunic length to match Lucy and also made her doll a little pair of shorts (I just made up the pattern for the shorts based on another pair of the doll’s pants).  Lucy was super excited about this!!  I really should do this more often!  Several of the Jennuine Design Patterns have matching doll patterns!
