Today I’m excited to be joining the Love Notions Hip Hop Tank Tour. Love Notions has both a ladies’ version and girls’ version of the Hip Hop Tank Pattern. I have previously made the Girls’ version, but this time I wanted to make one for myself.
I recently joined a gym and have been wanting some stylish workout clothes. I used some active-wear type fabric I picked up at JoAnn’s to make a workout tank. I was inspired by the back of this tank from Athleta
The pattern has tons of options, but I chose to make the color-blocked back and the sleeveless view (there is also a tank option which has thinner straps and an option to add sleeves)
I measured for the size medium on top, but between a medium and large for waist and hips. I decided to just make the straight Large…mostly because I was lazy but also I wanted it to be a bit oversized. In hindsight, I’m wishing I had made the medium top then blended out for waist and hips, as I think I would have liked this to be more fitted in the chest as intended.
The only modification I made was to the hemline. The pattern has the option for a straight or high-low hem, but I wung my own shirt-tail hem. I used the back of the high-low hem option and cut that for both the front and back then just curved up the sides a bit…so the length in back is the intended length of the top, which I think is perfect!!
I really love the back of this top!
Ok, ready, set, GO check out the pattern(s) and the other amazing versions on tour. Don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter for an amazing giveaway too!
I love the inspiration and I think you did a great job. The shirttail hemline looks very nice too. Good luck at the gym.
